Management issues of flexible working

There are gains to be made from flexible working that go beyond meeting individual employee requests.  Office space, flexible scheduling and staff productivity are all benefits but how to do ensure the potential benefits are realised?

My experience of working with a number of clients shows that real benefits can be realised if an integrated approach is adopted. By recognising the interdependencies between change management ( people) , office redesign and enabling technologies, it can be possible to measure and track benefits.

The problem is that most organisations aim for the benefits of space savings and shy aware of tackling the change management issues, hence poorly thought out ( often imposed) solutions which create problems post implementation.

This subject area is still  relatively new to us all, even though some have been practising it for a few years now. There is no defined model that you can pick up off the shelf and apply to your company. It will eveolve over time, but organisations need to be a little more brave and tackle it from an integrated perspective.
