It is a widely used term, freely employed in terms of necessity and encouragement, by all those who observe and comment upon the businesses in UK plc whether they are academics, politicians, journalists, industry bodies or those that themselves lead the UK’s successful organisations.

Beyond Boundaries - the emerging work culture of independence and responsibility

The latest report from the Orange Future Enterprise coalition examines flexible working and its impact on employees and employers. Beyond boundaries is designed to help companies manage the changes associated with more flexible work practices: changes in social attitudes/expectations, changes in organisational structures and changes in culture. The report emphasises that effective management of flexible working will help organisations be more competitive, successful and retain the best talent.

The way to work: Space, place and technology in 2016

This report from the Orange Future Enterprise coalition shows that organisations need to plan for multiple futures to stay competitive. It argues that businesses must prioritise managing intellectual property and flexibility of its employees to control organisational change in the face of forces of rapid change, low predictability and high risk. We predict four potential scenarios for the future but most organisations will include elements of all world of work.
